About
Formation of the Alexander Valley Water District is currently underway. We've created this website to serve as a source of information to answer all your questions. Thanks for visiting!
How did this all come about? The Russian River Property Owners Association (RRPOA), a group of agricultural landowners in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, is working to create a new water district to secure a reliable and sustainable water supply for the future.
With ongoing droughts, potential reductions in Russian River summer flows from the Eel River transfer, and new state regulations on local groundwater, it’s more important than ever to take action.
Forming a new water district would give our community more control over our water resources. The process begins with a petition to the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), followed by public hearings and outreach. Ultimately, the district would only be created if landowners approve it through a majority vote.
This is a chance to shape our future and protect our water supply—together.
